TRANQUILITY
Religiously, I like to watch the sun sits on the water
And turns the sea golden brown
As seagulls race towards home
So fly my spirit heavenward
To greet the twilight moon.
Though the darkness falls around me.
As I soar towards the horizon's changing hues.
The stars raise my soul to greater heights
And I forget all of my blues.
Onward I glide on the Milky Way
Until I reach the Golden Throne
There I sit and commune with God
And all my ills atoned.
DREAM
You whispered tenderly
You love and care only for me.Afraid you may vanish
If I should open my eyes
Lost in sweet dreams- I slept on.
You were love, you couldn't hurt.
But here I am nursing
Where it burned most
Floating on the sea of love
Holding on to what's not there
Believing you were my beloved
Praying do not leave me alone
Like a vapor you are gone.
Slowly I woke up.
Now I see you were nothing.
Just a heart-breaking dream.
I AM THE WOMAN
What do you care?
Don't you understand?
I need your touch tonight.
Not tomorrow or whenever you can.
That is what I expect from my man
What do you care?
I have needs, but you have a family
that always, always have to be first.
While I cry, curse and wait patiently,
And impatiently for my turn.
What do you care?
I'm free, yet still not free,
To go from place to place
Meet you at the corner in some remote space
Then you call that a date what a disgrace
What do you care?
Nothing is wrong with what you do
As long as she doesn't know what you are up to
And of course you don't want to hurt the little ones too
What else to do but to boil in my own stew?
The times you are not there
I burn wondering if you compare
Who is better matey or wifey dear
Once in the height of the passion we shared
You called her name what a charade.
It was not long before I see
That when I thought I had the victory
I'd only traded my integrity while she maintained her dignity.
For while I knew she existed, she knew nothing about me.
I was the one living the life of deceit.
In those sparsely moments
I used to believe only you could satisfy my needs.
Those stolen times were intensively sweet
-Sex-
heighten by the secrets and silly promises
I hoped you could keep. I was taken, I concede
Love sometimes is shady
I was your whore, while thinking I was your lady.
And all her incompetence was just your stories.
I gave everything doing her wifely duties.
but she got everything:
Your name, your money and your babies.
Now what will we do?
I'll tell you.
You keep your fantasies
And I will face my realities
There is no fair in this affair
I am a woman with needs and dreams
That you cannot fulfill
What you gave is all I took
And honestly you were only a great f--k
Moreover I do not like to share
For I am not the other woman
I am the woman.
